A Texas-based Nigerian couple have been killed by robbers shortly after landing in Nigeria for holiday.
They came to attend the funeral of a younger relative and stay for Xmas. But last Saturday, they died from a fatal car accident while fleeing from armed robbers who tried to rob them along Benin-Onitsha high way. . .
Their 2-year old niece who was in the car with them also died. Mr. Don Okoro and his wife, Nkem, were well known members of the Nigerian community in the Houston, Texas. Don was a business man who hailed from Mbaino in Imo State, while his wife was a nurse who hailed from Umuahia. . .
The Nigerian community in Houston have been thrown into anguish ever since the news of their death filtered in on Sunday and say their death was regrettable and it was something that could have been preventable if only the country was security conscious.
They are survived by 4 children.... R.I.P to them.
