Eminent Nigerians and expatriates from all walks of life converged on the ancient city of Ijebu-Ode, the capital of Ijebuland, on Saturday, to honour the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, on his 80th birthday celebration.
The week-long birthday anniversary was rounded-off with a grand luncheon held at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, which had in attendance the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, General Oladeinde Arogbofa (retd), former Head of State, General Mohammadu Buhari, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former governors of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, Chief Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor of Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo, President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Chairman, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Otunba Subomi Balogun and the Chairman, Globacom, Chief Mike Adenuga.
The colourful event was held amid tight security, as security agencies were strategically positioned in and around the venue. Guests were screened before they could gain entrance into the venue of the reception.
