Super Eagles cancel training after a meeting to deliberate on their World Cup appearance bonuses, ended in a deadlock
The Super Eagles did not train on Thursday, after a meeting to deliberate on their World Cup appearance bonuses, ended in a deadlock.
Nigeria was scheduled to train in Campinas at 6pm on Thursday, but the squad failed to board the bus.
The Media Officer Ben Alaiya explained that the squad would leave for training later, as they were having a meeting, but one hour later, officials cancelled the training session.
According to sources, the players demanded to be paid their bonuses for making it past the group stages during the meeting.
However, NFF General Secretary Musa Amadu, was in Sao Paulo at the time of these events, apparently to get more money for the next round.
A NFF official told KickOffNigeria that “funds were only released for the group stages, so he has gone to get more for the second round.”
It is not yet certain if the African champions will travel to Brasilia for their round of 16 clash against France, as Amadu is unlikely to return before Monday.
