President Muhammadu Buhari will leave for Cameroon after Ramadan to have talks with neighbouring countries on the topic of insurgency at Nigeria’s border.

The invitation was brought by the Cameroonian Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Sadi Emmanuel and Buhari revealed he would head to the neighbouring country as soon as the Ramadan fast ends.

President Buhari revealed that he has used his experience as a soldier against the insurgents and noted that the region still need international cooperation to end the insurgency.

Buhari said: “I am happy that the President has sent you. As you must have observed, I was in Niger and Chad over this issue. I planned to be in Cameroon afterwards, but I received an invitation to attend the Group of Seven (G7) meeting in Germany.

“I had to attend the meeting because Boko Haram has been internationalised and it was part of the discussions there,” he told Mr. Emmanuel.
Sadi Emmanuel thanked Buhari and said that President Biya was ready and willing to work with Buhari to end the Boko Haram insurgency.

“Together, we will reinforce our efforts, eradicate the scourge of terrorism and look forward to better things,” he told the President.
Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad have been battling the Boko Haram insurgency for a year now when the four countries formed an alliance to stop the deadly sect.
