A woman has been accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the stomach – after he refused to have SEX with her because he was tired, say police
Yanilca Ortiz-Burgos reportedly attacked her partner with a knife in front of the couple’s three children.
The 37-year-old was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a
person with a deadly weapon and child abuse following the incident at
their home in Daytona, Florida on Saturday at 6.12am.
Boyfriend Jose Vega-Hernandez, 46, has stated that he will not press charges, and he is hopeful that she will get some help.
According to the Daytona News-Journal, Vega-Hernandez said: “Supposedly she came to my room because she wanted to be intimate.”
She then punched him, and an argument ensued, according to his statement.
Three children – aged nine, 10 and 17 – were at home when it happened.
When police arrived, the couple were outside, Vega-Hernandez with a
superficial wound to his stomach and Ortiz-Burgos with a bleeding injury
on her right hand.
A 17-year-old boy was attempting to break up their fight.
Ortiz-Burgos attacked Vega-Hernandez after coming to his room
following drinking all night because he refused to have sex with her,
according to police.
Ortiz-Burgos said he told her he was “too tired” to have sex, which
made her upset, but she denied using the knife to attack him.
He added: “One thing is certain – this relationship is over.”
It is unclear whether or not she will appear in court over the incident.
